The Piedmont Boys (TPB) originated in 2007 in Greenville SC when Kernersville, NC native Greg Payne and his old college pal Kenny Winslow from Levitown, NY formed a duo and started writing songs. They named the band after the Piedmont Region of South Carolina, which is at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Their influences from the old country outlaws such as Cash, Jennings, Jones, Paycheck, Williams, and Haggard didn't take long until they acquired quite the following throughout the downtown Greenville bar scene. Growing in popularity over the years several members were added including Brian Kennedy (Greenville, SC) on drums, fiddler Matt Parks (Spartanburg, SC), bassist Ed Lemon (Barnwell, SC), and lead guitarist Adam Whitehead (Columbia, SC) making the band what it is today.

With the bands local success came the release of their self titled debut album with Ledfurd Recurds in 2007. The slap happy, whiskey soaked songs became a hit with fans and grab regional attention throughout the Southeast as well as other parts of the country. This kind of loyal following developed into non stop touring and the release of their second album Walking Pneumonia in 2008 under the supervision of Marcus Suarez at Whitestone Studios. The album brought TBP some of their biggest hits today like "Ain't Got No Hot Water", "Josephine", and "Pickens County" all of which got significant radio play throughout the region.

Although they are an independent and self-managed band they have shared the stage with national act such as Dierks Bentley, Gretchen Wilson, Eric Church, Josh Thompson, Tracy Lawrence, Charlie Robison, Jason Boland, Stoney Larue, Wade Bowen, and Blackberry Smoke just to name a few. In addition the band has traveled from coast to coast entertaining crowds with their not so "politically correct honky-tonk" rowdy live performances that keep fans coming back for more.
